For
a couple of years I included our Lynch-Dixson family genealogy
on this website, but in January 2001 I took it down for privacy
reasons. It currently includes 926 individual records. My parents,
John and Eleanor Lynch compiled a large part of the information
between about 1985 and 1990. They have added much additional
information since then, and also spent a couple of years scanning
family pictures for the project.
We
generated the webfiles using the Reunion genealogy program for
Macintosh (the Windows version is called Generations). We have
succeeded in burning the webfiles and pictures that were formerly
on the website on a CD-ROM. The individual records, family
cards, and some 250-300 pictures are viewable with any Web browser,
such as Internet Explorer or Netscape.
If
you are interested in obtaining a copy of the CD-ROM, contact
me (Larry Lynch) at lorenxo@canyonfire.org.
The
benefits of having the genealogical files on the Internet was
not only that it was accessible from anywhere in the world but
that all the names had been indexed by the various search engines
like Yahoo, Excite, Google, or Alta Vista. We have gotten numerous
emails from distant relatives and others interested in our family
history.
So
it was with regret that we took the site down. But we had to
recognize that we were in effect publishing a vast amount of
information about many people and their ancestors who had not
given us specific permission to do so.
The
upshot is that we would still like to make this information
available to those that would enjoy having it. We have provided
the index of the people in the genealogy on this website (see
link below), but without any further information.
