Canyonfire:
Pinnacles-Big Sur
On Memorial Day weekend 2003 I drove south from Oakland to Pinnacles National
Monument southeast of Salinas. I hiked up to the High Peaks Loop, then
continued south and east, finally sleeping on a beach north of Morro Bay.
The next day, after breakfast in San Luis Obispo, I set off north on fabled
California Highway 1, touring Hearst Castle at San Simeon and traversing
Big Sur to Carmel. Over the two days, I was able to visit and photograph
three Spanish missions and drink in a whole lot of spectacular scenery.
Glad you could come along for the ride....(by the way, several of the
